Sinopsis:

The little dromedary, seeing himself unable to put up with his brothers’ abusive behaviour, to react when faced with situations that course him distress, he cries none stop and, as a result he has an insignificant hump; but when things get complicated for others, in the most difficult times, Humphrey acts intelligently and shows who is the strongest.

Crying is a typical developing reaction during infancy, as an answer to an experience or situation. During the first years of infancy, the emotional complexities can bring about a feeling of not having the words to describe them and crying frequently appears when faced with fear, anguish, frustration, confusion, need…

It is important to recognise the feelings, the reasons they have been provoked, and act. The ability to react brings about confidence and well being, but sometimes the relation with others is necessary to face up to certain problems; in this case, Rosemary’s friendship with the hedgehog will be determinant to resolve the situation.

Bernardo Carvalho, the Portuguese illustrator, offers us a visual narrative that will take us to the dessert with very clear scenes for early readers. Flat-coloured silk-screen printing, dynamic and lively lines are used to create very expressive and fun characters with a clean and direct technique.
